Well, Baby Daxton is finally here!! We are loving having a new baby in our house and the boys couldn't love him more! Austin is the biggest helper ever and he wants to hold the baby ALL DAY!! When we have visitors he gets very impatient because he just wants to hold him....and Cader bug has surprised us all! He is very gentle and very loving- he actually asks to hold him rather than just try to grab him by himself and he will sit and rub his head and keep saying "my love my baby" and "hi baby" in a very high (and very annoying) voice. They love their new brother and they have been adjusting really well!
We have had so many people bring dinners, and gifts for the baby! We feel so blessed to have so many great friends and family.! Thanks SO MUCH to everyone for your love and your help! We are so lucky to be surrounded by such great friends! And WE LOVE visitors (as long as you're not sick!!) so if your in the neighborhood feel free to stop by and see our new sweet boy!
So now for the good stuff...Labor and delivery....I'll give the quick and edited version..(dave wanted to put the live birth on video for everyone to see...yeah right) (and this is mostly for my record. I've been known to not have a great memory! It might get lengthy)
We got to the hospital around 7:00am and my doctor broke my water around 8:10. I got the epidural a few minutes later and then we were just hanging out. After a few minutes I suddenly got very tired. I couldn't keep my eyes open and everything around me started to go black. It was really scary! Dave was talking to me, but I couldn't even say anything....and then I felt like I was going to throw up and my neck had a shooting pain down it. Dave must have known something was up because they called the nurse in and she said that my blood pressure had "bottomed out" so they gave me a shot and within a few minutes everything was back to normal. Wierd!
And then we just waited...and at 11:00 we were ready to push. I could feel a lot of pressure...this was by far the most pain I have felt with any of my babies!! But I only pushed 4 times and he was here!
We were all shocked at how big he was. She laid him on my stomach and my first thought and word ( should have kept my mouth shut!) was "gross!" But I have never held my baby that quick before!
They got him all cleaned up and we of course all died when they said he weighed 8 lbs 14 1/2 oz! HUGE BABY!!! And to top it off, the nurse said, "he has red hair"...WHAT?!!! How on earth do I get two red heads??!!!
But we are so happy he's here! New babies bring such a different spirit to the home and we feel so blessed to have him in our family.
He has been a great baby so far! He's a good eater and he's very patient with his brothers all over him all day!
And of course, my favorite thing is to watch Dave with him. He claims that he doesn't love the "new born" stage, but last night I got him to admit that he actually does. (watch out Cade, you've been replaced!) He is so cute with him and I know baby Dax has stolen Dad's heart...
I feel very blessed and I am excited to watch this baby grow! Welcome to our family Daxton...we LOVE you!!
